At the onset, Bill Taylor planted Cabernet Sauvignon as the main red varietal of the estate, an unusual move at the time. His favorite varietal, he believed Cabernet grown here could rival the best in the world. The Visionary is made only in exceptional vintages and harvested from top estate parcels. Tasting notes: A concentrated wine with great focus and balance between fresh fruit and fine-grained oak. Classic savory tannins and an explosive core of cassis and dark fruits. Matured in American oak barrels for 12 months, then a careful barrel selection is made to identify the best ones. The selected few are aged for an additional eight months. Finely stated oak tannins and vinous richness intertwine for a thoroughly satisfying, elegant and tightly-defined finish
